Bem, utilizamos este idiom quando queremos dizer que até aquele momento as coisas estão indo bem.

(Acabamos de começar o projeto, e até agora tudo está indo bem.)
So far, so good — the weather is perfect for our trip.
(Até agora, tudo certo — o clima está perfeito para nossa viagem.)
