Bem, como será que usamos o termo “se virar” em inglês?
Utlizamos a expressão “get by” para dizer que estamos “nos virando” ou tentando lidar com uma situação difícil.
Veja os exemplos abaixo:
I don’t earn much, but I can get by.
(Eu não ganho muito, mas consigo me virar.)
She gets by with her basic English when she travels.
(Ela se vira com seu inglês básico quando viaja.)
We had very little money, but somehow we got by.
(Tínhamos muito pouco dinheiro, mas de alguma forma conseguimos sobreviver.)
He’s not a great student, but he gets by.
(Ele não é um ótimo aluno, mas dá um jeito.)
It’s hard to get by on just one salary.
(É difícil se virar com apenas um salário.)
Do you think we’ll get by without a car?
(Você acha que vamos conseguir nos virar sem carro?)
They got by with help from friends and family.
(Eles se viraram com a ajuda de amigos e familiares.)

Lucas: Hey, Julia! How’s everything going?

Julia: I lost my job last month, so money is really tight right now.
